Richardton, North Dakota is a small town located in Stark County, about 20 miles east of Dickinson. It has a population of around 250 people and is a part of the Dickinson Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town is situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by rolling hills and farmland.

The town was founded in 1883 as a Catholic mission to serve the local Native American population. The mission was named after Father Richard Pfingsten, who served as pastor from 1883-1909. The mission was eventually permanent and grew into the small town that it is today.

Agriculture is an important industry in Richardton, with many local farms producing wheat, barley, corn, oats and other grains. Livestock such as cattle and sheep are also raised here. The area also has some oil production which helps boost the local economy.

Richardton has several churches that serve the community including St. Mary’s Catholic Church which was built in 1895 and still serves as an active parish today. There are many recreational activities available for residents including fishing at nearby Lake Ilo National Wildlife Refuge or visiting nearby Theodore Roosevelt National Park for hiking, camping or wildlife viewing opportunities.

Richardton may be small but it offers plenty of charm with its quaint downtown area full of historic buildings from its early days when it served as a mission to its current status as a vibrant small town with plenty to do for everyone.
