Roberta, Georgia Population, Hospitals, Airports, and Schools

This Crawford County city was incorporated on December 26, 1890 and was named for the seven year old daughter of Hiram McCrary, the railroad station agent. While it is the only incorporated city in Crawford County, Roberta is not the county seat. The city was created at the site of the railroad depot when the tracks were laid through the County.

The city is home to the Benjamin Hawkins Monument, which was placed in the city square in 1930 to honor Colonel Hawkins, an early settler in the area. Col. Hawkins, who is buried on the banks of the Flint River west of Roberta, was the federal Indian Agent for the Southwest between 1796 and 1816.

Located on U.S. 341, Roberta’s Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
