Roy, Utah is a city located in Weber County, in the northern part of the state. It is a part of the Ogden-Clearfield Metropolitan Statistical Area and has a population of 37,971 as of 2019.
The area was first settled by Mormon pioneers in 1873 and was named after Royal A. Smith, who came with his family to homestead the land. In the early days, Roy was mainly an agricultural community but has since transitioned into a bedroom community for Ogden and Salt Lake City.
The town has grown quickly over the years due to its proximity to major cities and its excellent transportation infrastructure. Roy is just off Interstate 15, which makes it easy to get around to other parts of Utah or even out of state destinations such as Las Vegas or Denver. The city also has two commuter rail stations – Roy North Station and Roy South Station – that provide access to downtown Salt Lake City for commuters.
