Salem, Wisconsin is a small village located in Kenosha County in the southeastern part of the state. It has a population of about 8,500 people and is situated along Highway 50 between Milwaukee and Chicago. The village was founded in 1837 by settlers from New York and Ohio and was named after Salem, Massachusetts.

The village of Salem lies on the banks of the Fox River, which flows through the town. This river provides Salem with many recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming in its waters. The Fox River Trail is also popular among hikers and bicyclists who enjoy exploring this scenic area.
