The town has a population of just over 300 people and is considered to be part of the greater Minot area. The main street of Sawyer is lined with quaint homes and businesses, including a general store, a post office, and several churches. Just past town is an old abandoned railroad bridge, which was once used by settlers to transport goods across the Souris River. The bridge is now closed off but can still be seen from afar as it stands tall among the trees.
