Shiocton, Wisconsin is a small village located in Outagamie County, Wisconsin. The population of the village is estimated to be around 1,100 people. The village of Shiocton was founded in 1851 by Daniel Shiocton who named it after his family’s ancestral home in Ireland.
Shiocton is located just off of State Highway 54 and is about 20 miles northeast of Appleton and about 30 miles northwest of Green Bay. It is conveniently located near several small cities and towns such as Seymour, Black Creek, and New London; as well as larger cities such as Oshkosh and Menasha.
The village of Shiocton features a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy including a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities at nearby parks such as the Shiocton Marsh Wildlife Area which offers hiking trails and bird watching opportunities; fishing at the Wolf River or the Shiocton Dam; or camping at one of the local campgrounds. There are also two golf courses nearby: Royal St Patrick’s Golf Course and Royal Oaks Golf Course.
Shiocton is known for its friendly atmosphere with many residents that have been living in the area for generations. As a result, there are plenty of family-friendly events throughout the year including an annual 4thof July parade that features floats from local businesses; a Halloween Parade; an Easter Egg Hunt; and an annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held in December where residents can gather around to sing carols while they enjoy hot cocoa provided by local churches.
