Society Hill is located in Darlington County, South Carolina and lies at the intersection of two major highways: Interstate 20 and US Highway 15. The city is situated in the Pee Dee region, which is known for its humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid while winters tend to be mild and wet.

Society Hill has a rich history that dates back to colonial times when settlers first arrived in the area. The town was named after a prominent family who owned much of the land in the area. In more recent times, Society Hill has become known as an agricultural center with a thriving tobacco industry. During World War II, the town’s economy was further boosted by defense contracts that were awarded to local businesses.
