Stanfield, Arizona is a small town located in Pinal County, just south of Phoenix. The population is just under 3,000 people and the town has a rural feel with its rolling hills and wide open spaces. The town was established in 1902 as a stop on the Southern Pacific Railroad line. It was named after one of the first settlers in the area, J.W. Stanfield.
The town is known for its agricultural production, especially cotton which is grown here in abundance due to the area’s long growing season and plentiful water supply from nearby rivers and canals. Other crops include alfalfa, wheat, barley, corn, sorghum and hay. Stanfield is also home to many livestock farms that produce beef cattle as well as dairy cows and sheep.
