Startex is a small town located in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. With a population of just over 800 people, Startex is a rural community with plenty of charm and character. Located on the banks of the Tyger River, Startex is a quiet and peaceful place to call home.

The town was first established in the late 1800s when two brothers named J.H. and W.T. Simpson settled the area and built two cotton mills near the riverbanks. The mills operated for many years until they were destroyed by fire in the mid-1940s. The town was eventually rebuilt and today it serves as a residential community with several small businesses including gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants, churches, and other services that cater to the local residents’ needs.

The climate in Startex is typical of South Carolina: hot summers with temperatures reaching into the 90s during July and August; mild winters with occasional snowfall; and plenty of sunshine all year round.
