Sterling Heights, Michigan is a city located in Macomb County and is a part of the Detroit metropolitan area. With a population of around 130,000 people, Sterling Heights is one of the largest cities in the region.

Sterling Heights was founded in 1968 and was originally named Sterling Township. The city began to grow rapidly after it was incorporated as a city in 1968 due to its close proximity to Detroit and its abundance of jobs in the auto industry.

The city has an abundance of recreational activities for residents to enjoy. The Sterling State Park is located on the Clinton River and offers swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, biking and more. The Dodge Park offers trails for walking or running as well as basketball courts and a playground. There are also several golf courses located throughout the city including Lakeside Golf Course, Willowbrook Golf Course and Freedom Hill Golf Course.

The economy of Sterling Heights is driven by manufacturing with many automotive parts suppliers located within the city limits. Chrysler’s Sterling Stamping Plant is one of the largest employers in town with over 4500 employees at its facility which produces body panels for cars like Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos. Other major employers include Dura Automotive Systems Inc., Pulte Homes Corporation and Magna International Incorporated.

Sterling Heights also has plenty of entertainment options for residents to enjoy from movie theatres at Lakeside Mall to bowling alleys such as Astro Lanes Bowling Center or Varsity Lanes North Bowling Alley . There are also numerous restaurants offering cuisines ranging from Italian to Mexican food as well as bars such as Club 21 Sports Bar & Grill or Whitey’s Bar & Grill that offer live music on weekends.
