Strasburg, Virginia is a small city located in the Shenandoah Valley region of the state. With a population of 6,398 according to the 2020 Census, Strasburg is the largest city in Shenandoah County. The city lies at the base of Massanutten Mountain and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The climate in Strasburg is mild and temperate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid while winters are cold but without too much snowfall.

The history of Strasburg dates back to its founding in 1761 by Peter Stover. It was originally named “Stoverstown” after him but was later changed to Strasburg in 1780 after a visit from General LaFayette during the Revolutionary War. During this period, Strasburg served as a major supply stop along the Valley Turnpike which connected Winchester to Harrisonburg. The economy of Strasburg has been largely built on agriculture with farming being an important part of its history. In recent years, however, the city has become increasingly reliant on tourism as well as its growing manufacturing sector for economic growth.
