Tonopah is an unincorporated town in Nye County, Nevada. With a population of around 2,500 people, Tonopah is the county seat and the largest community in the area. Tonopah is located in central Nevada, approximately halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. The town sits at an elevation of 6,400 feet above sea level and enjoys a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters.

Tonopah’s history dates back to 1900 when Jim Butler discovered silver ore near what is now known as the Tonopah Mining Park. After that discovery, miners flocked to the area for fortune.
