Torrington, Wyoming is a small city located in the eastern part of the state. It sits at an elevation of 4,100 feet and is home to about 6,000 people. The town is located near the North Platte River and is surrounded by rolling hills and prairies.

Torrington was established in 1886 when it became a stop on the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1891, the town was incorporated and named after Torrington, Connecticut. The town quickly grew into an agricultural center for wheat and cattle ranching due to its proximity to the river and railroad.

Today, Torrington remains an agricultural center with a strong focus on beef production. It also has a thriving industrial sector with many manufacturing companies in the area. The city also serves as a regional hub for healthcare services with several hospitals nearby.

The city has several parks and public spaces that are perfect for outdoor recreation activities like fishing, camping, hiking, biking, golfing and more. There are several lakes in the area that offer great fishing opportunities such as Lake Hattie State Park which features two boat ramps for easy access to some of Wyoming’s best trout fishing spots.

Torrington also features many historical sites including Fort Laramie National Historic Site which preserves one of America’s most important military posts from 1834-90; Fort Fred Steele State Historic Site which commemorates Union forces during their occupation of Wyoming during 1865-68; Torrington Stage Station which served as an important stopover point on the Oregon Trail; and The Old West Museum which showcases artifacts from some of Wyoming’s most legendary figures such as Tom Horn and Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid among others.
