Wilsall, Montana is a small, rural town located in the Shields Valley of Park County. It is situated between the Crazy Mountains to the east and the Bridger Mountains to the west and is surrounded by open farmland and rolling hills. The town has a population of just over 800 people, making it one of the smallest towns in Montana.

The town was founded in 1883 by two ranchers, James Wilsall and William Wilcox. The two men named it after their hometowns – Wilsall, England and Wilcox, Wisconsin. The original settlement was made up of just a few houses and a general store. Over time, more buildings were added including a post office in 1894 and a church in 1895.

Today, Wilsall is still very much a small western town with an economy based on agriculture and ranching. The main industry is cattle ranching which makes up most of the employment opportunities in the area. In addition to raising cattle, many ranchers also farm hay for sale to neighboring farms or for use on their own land.

The town also has several other attractions that make it an ideal place to visit or live. There are several recreational activities available including horseback riding trails through nearby mountain ranges as well as camping sites along local rivers such as Shields River or Boulder River Valley State Park.
