Wilton, Connecticut is a town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. It is situated along the Norwalk River and borders the cities of Norwalk and Weston. With a population of approximately 18,000 people, Wilton is one of the most affluent towns in the United States.

The town was first settled in 1726 by John Belden and other settlers from Norwalk and Stamford. They named it Wilton after an English town. The town was incorporated in 1802 and has since become an important suburb of New York City that is known for its excellent schools, beautiful homes, and strong sense of community.

Wilton is known for its vibrant downtown area which includes several shops, restaurants, banks, offices, churches, a library and a post office. There are also several parks located throughout the town that offer many recreational activities such as hiking trails, playgrounds, sports fields and courts as well as picnic areas. The Merwin Meadows Park is one of the largest parks in Wilton with over 1 mile of trails for walking or biking.

The town also offers a variety of cultural activities including art galleries, museums and theaters. The Wilton Historical Society offers visitors to learn more about the history of Wilton through their museum exhibits and programs while the Wilton Playshop presents musicals throughout the year at their theater on Belden Hill Road.

Residents also enjoy easy access to nearby beaches along Long Island Sound such as Compo Beach Park in Westport or Sherwood Island State Park in Westport which offer swimming, fishing and other outdoor recreational activities during warmer months.

In addition to its excellent school system which includes two public high schools (Wilton High School & Cider Mill School) as well as private schools like St Matthew’s Episcopal Day School & Greens Farms Academy; Wilton also has many business opportunities due to its close proximity to New York City which makes it an ideal place for commuters to live or work from home.
