Windham, Connecticut is a town located in the northeastern corner of the state. It is bordered by the towns of Scotland, Hampton, and Chaplin to the north and east, Lebanon to the south and Willimantic to the west. Windham was incorporated in May of 1692 and has a population of around 25,000 people.

The town is known for its natural beauty and rural atmosphere. The wooded hillsides are filled with trees that change color each fall, providing spectacular views of New England’s landscape. The area also boasts many lakes and ponds that offer fishing opportunities as well as recreational activities such as swimming and boating.

Windham is home to numerous historical sites including several Revolutionary War-era homes, churches, cemeteries, and monuments. One such site is the Windham Historical Society Museum which houses artifacts from throughout Windham’s history including furniture, photographs, documents, books, maps, tools and other items from different eras.

The town also offers a variety of outdoor activities for residents to enjoy such as hiking trails at Natchaug State Forest or biking trails at Moosup Valley State Park. There are also several local parks offering playgrounds for children as well as picnic areas for families to enjoy together.

Windham’s downtown area has been revitalized over the years with new businesses popping up all over Main Street which offers an array of restaurants and shops for residents to explore. There are also several art galleries located in downtown featuring local artists’ work or hosting events throughout the year that promote creativity in the community.

Windham also has a thriving education system with two school districts serving its students: Windham Public Schools (WPS) and EASTCONN Regional Education Service Center (ERSC). WPS consists of seven elementary schools while ERSC provides educational services for students who require special education or have learning disabilities or behavioral issues that require specialized instruction or services not provided by WPS schools.

Overall Windham is a great place to live with plenty of natural beauty and outdoor activities to explore while still having access to shops restaurants and other amenities within walking distance from any part of town. Residents can take advantage of its rich history while still enjoying modern conveniences such as banks supermarkets post offices etc making this small town an ideal place to call home.
